People can't just "up and stop overthinking" about stuff.
Ok, me for example, I tend to think more intensely about things that I consider to be important. For a good chunk of my life I've considered a lot of little things "did I offend him" / "what do I want for lunch" / "what's the perfect way to say this (that causes studdering by the way)"
Anyhow, after I was told that "[I] make this huge 'deal' out of everything" I started thinking about it, and realized it's true. I sweat way too much about little things "the small stuff".
In my experience, you have to figure out what you're going to choose to care strongly about (priorities), and then the things that you don't take as seriously (i.e. lunch) will be more easily (or automatically) pushed to the background of your mind.
